Beginner Pour Over Coffee Class
This class is very basic and designed with the beginner in mind. Even if you have never brewed a pour over coffee before, we think you will still enjoy this class.
We strive to take the intimidation out of getting started by keeping things simple, approachable, and hands-on.
Please read the note at the bottom of this description about advanced techniques or troubleshooting your current setup. Since this is a beginner class with other students, we are unable to customize it to your specific needs during the group class.
If you are looking for more personalized help, we also offer private pour over classes that we are happy to customize and schedule just for you.
We will discuss the following:
- Introduction to pour overs
- The difference between pour over, drip coffee, and espresso extraction
- Insight into what equipment to invest in for your home setup
- A brief introduction to coffee bean quality and roast profiles
- The science of brewing: the variables that matter
- Exploring what specialty coffee is and what it tastes like
- Hands-on experience: the step-by-step process of understanding what happens when you brew, what you taste, and what to adjust
- Learning what a good cup tastes like and what it means to you
- Q & A

Please Read
We focus on the basics in this beginner class. If you already make pour over coffee at home and are fairly proficient with V60, Melitta, or Kalita-style brewers, you may want to consider a private pour over class with us instead.
In a private class, we can focus on improving your specific technique, dialing in your brewing for better results, or moving on to other dripper styles and techniques. We also encourage you to bring your own drippers, coffees, and accessories so we can work directly with your setup.
To begin the process, please visit our private coffee classes page and fill out the form. We will review your request and follow up with the best next step.
